SUNY Delhi, NY USA Andrew is currently an Instructional Technologist at SUNY Delhi. He is well-versed in Web 2.0, multimedia design, electronic medical record software, instructional design and public speaking. He has had vast experiences in the field of education which includes working in corporate education, higher education and K-12. Andrew is currently pursuing a M.S.Ed.in Educational Technology at the School of Education and Human Ecology at SUNY Oneonta. |
The Applied Math Task Force
SUNY Delhi, NY USA Because of the lack of applicable math skills is often a deterrent to students completing Career and Technology Education (CTE) programs at SUNY Delhi, the Applied Math Task Force has been formed. Instructors from various CTE programs, led by Culinary Math faculty, Linda Blocker, in collaboration with math instructor, Monica Liddle, vet-sci instructor, Liz Frisbee, architecture instructor, Dave Hultenius, and applied sciences instructor, Steve Tait have set out to develop math instruction methods and materials related to CTE programs and connect student math skills necessary to be successful. |
Brendan Aucoin, MOODLE Support Specialist
SUNY Cobleskill, NY USA Brendan began working with online education and learning management systems in the mid 2000’s at the Center for Teaching Learning and Technology at Bowling Green State University. After spending several years “in the trenches” teaching English, Literature, and Communications he stepped into the role of administrating MOODLE for SUNY Cobleskill. In addition to his current degrees in English he is pursuing an M.S. of Information Science from the University at Albany. |
Carmen Andoh, M.Ed, Systems Integration Programmer
SUNY Delhi, NY USA Carmen has a over a decade of experience in Higher Education and Nonprofit Tech Management. She assists the team in integrating systems and app-level software and plugins for SUNY Delhi and SUNY Cobleskill's online learning back-end needs. She is a Delhi Campus Child Care Center Board Member, PYLadies NYC advisor and BlackGirlsCode Volunteer, and teaches Game Programming & Development online. Carmen is a fierce advocate of Free, Open-Source Software (FOSS) and technologies and mentors young adults on the Autism Spectrum seeking postsecondary education. She holds a B.A in Computer Information Systems and History from the University of Notre Dame and an Ed. M. (ABT) in Applied Behavioral Analysis from Arizona State University. |
Eileen O'Connor, Associate Professor - Science Ed, Instructional Tech
& Design, General Ed
Empire State College, Latham, NY USA Dr. Eileen O’Connor has been involved in higher education: in chemistry, in technology, in education, and in science education since 1990 – teaching at the College of St. Rose, SUNY Oneonta, University at Albany, and Empire State College. Before entering academia, she served as a chemist (in both government and industry) and she worked at IBM during the 1980’s. Within higher education she has taught both face-to-face and online but her primary design, research and publication areas involve the use of various emerging technologies in facilitating learning in online and blended formats. In addition, since 2007, Eileen has been involved in creating learning environments within virtual reality – first working in Second Life and presently expanding to open-source venues (where costs are reduced and instructors and students have more flexibility). Eileen integrates virtual environments into most of her varied courses, however, her present research and development efforts focus on courses where students actually design their own virtual reality environments. |
Elizabeth Sova, Director, O'Connor Center for Community Engagement
SUNY Delhi, NY USA Elizabeth comes from a variety of workplace experiences with technology. She has a BFA from NYU, and worked in NYC and LA on the production of films and as a costumer before moving to Delaware County in 1997. She worked part-time at the West Kortright Center in East Meredith and Riverhill Partners in Treadwell where she started working in Moodle. Elizabeth currently works full-time for SUNY Delhi as the O'Connor Center for Community Service director, and has co-designed two courses in Vancko Hall on service-learning and community engagement. |
Ericka Ericson, Online Learning Assistant
SUNY Delhi, NY USA Ericka is an alumni of SUNY Delhi and is currently completing her Bachelor's degree at Hartwick College. Working in conjunction with the CCTL team as an Online Learning Assistant, she aids in providing support to campus faculty through the development of instructional material and creation of additional Moodle-based training courses. |
Heather Schwartz, Assistant Professor, Liberal Arts & Sciences
SUNY Delhi, NY USA Dr. Heather Schwartz has been teaching history at SUNY Delhi since 2009. She holds a Ph.D. in History from Binghamton University. Dr. Schwartz is co-advisor of the campus History Club and is a member of the Budget and Planning Committee. She has given a number of presentations both on and off campus and participates regularly in academic conferences, such as the Upstate Early American History workshop. |
John Horner, Instructional Technologist
SUNY Delhi, NY USA John has been a part of the SUNY Delhi community for over 25 years. He has worked in Student Life, Judicial Affairs, Greek Life, Academic Advisement and has been teaching History and Government for almost two decades. John has been teaching online courses since the college first began using WebCT in the early 2000s, and has now moved into supporting and training other faculty in using the Moodle online learning platform as a member of CCTL." |
John Traxler, Professor of Digital Learning
Wolverhampton University (UK) Professor John Traxler is rofessor of Mobile Learning, the world’s first and a full UK professor, at the University of Wolverhampton UK. He is one of the pioneers of mobile learning and has been associated with mobile learning projects since 2001 when he was evaluator for m-learning, the first major EU project, embracing Sweden, Italy and UK. He is a Founding Director and current Vice-resident of the International Association for Mobile Learning, responsible for the annual Learn research conference running since 2002. He is co-editor of the definitive book, Mobile Learning: A Handbook for Educators and Trainers. He has been responsible for large-scale mobile learning implementations and small-scale mobile learning research. He has extensive experience developing mobile learning capacity amongst university teachers. Over the last five years he has become involved in policy and strategy. He is a frequent international keynote speaker, this academic year in Spain, Cyprus, South Africa, Australia, and Europe. |
Keith Landa, Director
SUNY Purchase, NY USA I'm Director of the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Center at Purchase College SUNY. I spend my time supporting course design and faculty development programming, promoting the development of virtual and physical learning spaces for campus, and generally assisting faculty in their adoption of innovative instructional approaches. My team and I are assembling a suite of open source and Web 2.0 tools, built around the college's adoption of Moodle as our learning management system in 2009 and our addition of Mahara ePortfolios, to support Purchase's strategic goal of becoming a learner-centered institution with documented student learning. I've consulted with a number of SUNY and non-SUNY campuses on their adoption of Moodle, and am involved in several SUNY groups and initiatives, such as DOODLE (the directors of online and distance education for SUNY) and the FACT2 Teaching and Learning task force. I teach in and recently became coordinator for the Science in the Modern World program, a science seminar for non-scientists that is part of our first-year program. I also teach an online course at Purchase on the Search for Life in the Universe. |
Kelly Keck, M.Ed, Instructional Designer
SUNY Delhi, NY USA Kelly has a Masters in Education and a Masters in Information Technology. He has worked for the past 15 years delivering and developing technical and end-user training for various proprietary systems. Kelly is the new instructional designer and will be working with faculty on the development of online educational programs. |
Michelle Rogers-Estable, Manager of Online Education
SUNY Delhi, NY USA Dr. Estable holds a Doctorate of Instructional Technology and Distance Education and currently works at SUNY Delhi as the Manger of Online Education in NY (USA), and previously at The Higher Colleges of Technology (in the UAE) as an Educational Technology Lead, in both cases conducting eLearning project management, evaluation of course design, and managing faculty training and support. Michelle has completed distance learning contracts and educational technology program development in 3 countries: United States, France, and the United Arab Emirates. Nancy Willow, BSN Academic Advisor
SUNY Delhi, NY USA Nancy joined the School of Nursing advising team at SUNY Delhi in 2012 after nine years of advising students at Hartwick College and Morrisville State College. She currently advises online students in the BS and MS Nursing programs at SUNY Delhi and serves on the BSN Technology Committee. Nancy and her School of Nursing advising colleagues recently presented at the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) annual conference, sharing Moodle-related advisement strategies, data, and best practices with advising professionals from across the country. |
Sean Dowling
Trinity College Dublin, Ireland Sean is currently a Marie Curie Research Fellow at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, working on his PhD in the area of mobile lifelong learning as part of the EU-funded EDUWORKS project. For the previous ten years, he worked as an educational technologist in the Middle East. He also has extensive teaching experience and has published in the areas of EFL and educational technology. |
Steve Wheeler, Associate Professor
Plymouth University (South West England) Originally trained as a psychologist, he has spent his entire career working in media, technology and learning, predominantly in nurse and teacher education. Steve is a global educator, online instructor, and graduate mentor both in the UK and overseas. He researches technology supported learning, eLearning, pedagogy underlying social media and Web 2.0 technologies in education, mobile learning and cyber-cultures. Steve has given keynotes and invited lectures in more than 30 countries across 5 continents. Steve is also the author of more than 150 scholarly articles, editor on various academic journals, and a prolific edublogger: Learning with ‘e’s . Steve was awarded a Fellowship by the European Distance and E-learning Network (EDEN), elected to serve on the Steering group of EDEN’s Network of Academics and Professionals (NAP), and served as chair of the influential worldwide research group IFIP Technical Committee Working Group 3.6 (distance education). Steve is the author of several books including The Digital Classroom (Routledge: 2008) and Connected Minds, Emerging Cultures (Information Age: 2009). Susan Deane, Associate Professor, School of Nursing
SUNY Delhi, NY USA Susan, Associate Professor, has been teaching in the online RN-to-BSN program here at SUNY-Delhi since 2010. She has been teaching online for 14 years developing and teaching courses using a variety of LMS's. She holds a masters degree in nursing and is currently working on her doctorate; her dissertation work in on the use of virtual clinical simulations in nursing. Susan is the chair of the BSN Policy Committee and a member of the Strategic Planning Committee. |
Terry Hamblin, Associate Professor, Liberal Arts & Sciences
SUNY Delhi, NY USA Dr. Terry Hamblin has taught history at SUNY Delhi for the past 10 years. He has a Ph.D. in United States History from Stony Brook University. As a historian, Dr. Hamblin has presented a number of scholarly papers and lectures and has published a number of reviews and articles on topics in the field of education, United States history, cultural diplomacy, and foreign relations. |
