We’ll focus on a few smart learning strategies (e.g., retrieval, spaced practice, chunking), meshing them with powerful tech-infused course design practices and tools. Based on real course implementation, we’ll explore strategy-meshed web-based and mobile tool use. |

What is the Lifespan of an OER?
Ed Beck Open Educational Resources have become a major talking point around SUNY with initiatives being launche on every campus. In this talk, we will follow several open resources from when they were published and trace their derivative works across the globe. The presentation illustrates what responsible use of Creative Commons Licensing looks like and how the technologies we choose to create OER can influence adoption by the greater community. This talk will seek to provide both an introduction to those who want to learn about OER and have questions about what it is, what a creative commons license is, where to look for and find open resources, and engage users who are already aware of OER by using these case studies. |

Zoom Link How Can #EmTechMOOC Benefit Your Campus Community? Robin Sullivan, Cherie van Putten The SUNY Exploring Emerging Technologies for Lifelong Learning and Success (#EmTechMOOC) < http://suny.edu/emtech > is a collaborative project to encourage students, faculty, staff, and anyone with an interest to stay current with today's rapidly changing technologies. This open-access learning opportunity encourages ALL learners to build a personal lifelong learning toolkit to master the 4Cs of 21st century learning, Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, and Critical Thinking. Learn how your campus can take advantage of the MOOC resources to benefit your campus community. The tools and resources within EmTechWIKI compliment the MOOC and are used to engage students. Information will be shared about how instructors can utilize MOOC resources to supplement teaching and learning and how students can take advantage of the tools and resources as they complete course assignments. Instructional designers learn ways to support their campus constituents and keep up-to-date about the latest emerging technologies. Participants create a personal ePortfolio to share evidence of their learning and also earn digital badges to signify their efforts to advance their own personal and professional development. Certification is also available as an option through Coursera. All SUNY participants are able to earn Coursera certification at no cost. #EmTechMOOC is currently wrapping up its first cohort. Additional sessions are offered continuously and launch every 5-weeks. |
